Islamic Azad University's Isfahan Branch Making Rapid Progress in AI Education
“In a bid to promote artificial intelligence in Isfahan province, we are partnering with the governorate, which shows the university's penetration rate so that it can establish an artificial intelligence culture in Isfahan and the country,” Payam Najafi told ANA.
He referred to the production of artificial intelligence educational software at the university, and said, “Training students, communication with the Chamber of Commerce, communication with various projects and chatbots that we produce for various institutions, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Governorate, Education and Training, etc., are all measures that the university has initiated to move rapidly in line with the flow of national knowledge.”
Iranian Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Hossein Afshin had announced in February that the AI had passed the theoretical stage in the country and now is in the operational phase.
“The AI has been developed in Iran since 2010. This technology was first introduced in self-driving cars, medical guidance systems and traffic management, and today, having passed the theoretical stage, it has entered industrial and operational applications,” Afshin said.
Noting that artificial intelligence is no longer a purely academic subject, he said, “There was a time when only theoretical discussions were raised about artificial intelligence, but today the country is facing a new generation of operational projects in the fields of oil, health, smart cities and industry.”
“This change of direction is the result of targeted investment and the serious entry of creative engineers into this field,” Afshin said.
